BEHOLD, DEAR LISTENER, FOR THE LEGEND OF THE EYETRAPS IS SUCH:
Four ordinary but lovable dweebs were transformed by a series of increasingly unlikely supernatural events and assembled under one sacred banner: THE EYETRAPS.
Scholars have classified their sound as melodic indie rock, marked by big hooks, crunchy guitars, stacked harmonies, and an alarming attention to musical detail. Their live performances, however, have been deemed significantly less responsible, with scholars noting a tendency towards theatricality, excessive movement, and newfangled dance moves.
In August 2025, The Eyetraps released their debut EP. Now, the four are preparing a full-length record, the contents of which have been foretold to arrive in spring 2026.
Something a little longer and more serious, if that’s your jam:
The Eyetraps are melodic indie-rock that packs an honest punch. They write like their inner monologues were wiretapped, then stolen back and blasted through a megaphone: powerful, a little shameless, with a streak of playful chaos. Built on bright, interlocking guitar lines and stacked three-part vocal harmonies.
The project grew out of a long-standing songwriting collaboration between lead vocalist Alex Frantz and lead guitarist Zack Shafer. It has since evolved into a full band, expanding its sound while keeping a tight focus on strong vocal performance and carefully constructed songs. At its core, the writing is confessional, direct, emotionally honest, and rooted in lived experience, but it is consistently balanced by melodic movement rather than heaviness.
Musically, the band leans into contrast, with tight, hook-forward songwriting paired with dynamic builds, stacked vocal harmonies, and arrangements that move between restraint and release. Moments of rawness are often offset by humor or unpredictability, giving the songs a sense of motion and personality rather than a fixed tone.
The result is indie rock that feels both precise and slightly unhinged in the best way, songs that land hard, stick around, and leave space for listeners to find their own meaning inside them.
